We’ve been working with a group called Supporters of the Loop, who are proposing a streetcar loop to connect Ottawa and Gatineau’s rapid transit systems. This contingent of business groups, community leaders and former mayors is calling on governments and communities to collaborate in evaluating a Nation Capital streetcar loop, stating “We have a once in a generation opportunity to develop a National Capital Region transit plan that is green, sustainable and enhances the National Capital experience for all Canadians.”
They envision the benefits of replacing bus, car and truck traffic on Wellington Street in front of Parliament Hill with a streetcar and pedestrian realm.
